Education – The Foundation of Sustainable Growth
Education is not just a necessity; it is the foundation on which the progress of any society rests. In today’s interconnected and globalized world, the importance of education has become more critical than ever. A nation cannot dream of growth and prosperity when large sections of its population are still trapped in the cycle of illiteracy. True and sustainable development can only be achieved when every child and every individual is empowered with the light of knowledge.
Education in the rural areas
In rural areas, many children still lack access to quality education. Schools are distant. Facilities remain inadequate, and teachers are in short supply. For girls, the challenges are even greater. Poverty, gender bias, and early marriage often force them to leave school early. This reality affects thousands of families. Children are often expected to help with chores or farming. Girls face pressure to marry young. Education takes a backseat.
Why Villages Need Support
Rural areas face many educational problems. Many schools lack toilets, power, or even proper buildings. Children walk long distances just to attend class. Often, they are taught in overcrowded rooms with limited resources.
These problems create stress for families. For many parents, sending a child to school is a tough choice. When survival depends on every helping hand. According to the Ministry of Education, more than 30 percent of rural girls drop out before reaching high school. Early marriage and domestic responsibilities are major reasons.
This dropout rate has a lifelong impact. Girls who leave school early are more likely to remain in poverty. They also face health risks and limited job options.
Uplifting Girls Through Education
Girls in rural areas face additional barriers. Many care for younger siblings. Some are pushed into marriage before they finish school. Others have never seen a computer.
IWF is working to remove these barriers.
At the Islah Welfare Foundation (IWF), we believe that education is the key to transforming lives and uplifting communities. Our efforts are especially focused on strengthening primary and secondary education, as these are the stages where strong foundations for lifelong learning are built. Once these foundations are laid, individuals are better prepared to pursue higher education and contribute positively to society.
Our Initiatives in Education
To achieve this vision, IWF has launched several targeted programs designed to support students, empower families, and strengthen schools. A few of our key initiatives include:
Establishment of Primary Schools
Erawin Public school (EPS) is established and running by Islah Welfare Foundation (IWF) in remote areas to provide quality education to poor families. Mostly, guardians are farmers or daily wage labourers. We aim to offer quality primary and secondary education to children from underserved communities. At Erawin Public school, we strive to give our children a complete value based Modern Education. Our curriculum is set at a rigorous level that focuses on the purpose of preparing our students to reach their maximum potential
School Kits Distribution – Supplying essentials such as books, stationery, and uniforms to ensure that no child is left behind due to a lack of resources.
Scholarships for School Students – Offering financial support to deserving students, ensuring that financial hardship does not become a barrier to education.
Through these initiatives, IWF is not just educating children but nurturing confident individuals who can bring change to their families, communities, and ultimately, the nation. IWF envisions that in rural areas, every child also has the right to learn, grow, and succeed, breaking free from the barriers of poverty and inequality.
Future Initiatives in Education:
To fulfil our vision, IWF is preparing to launch the following projects and initiatives in the near future:
Establishment of Vocational Training Institute- VTI
“With the changing economic scenario and growing global competitiveness, there exists a significant mismatch between the skilled manpower required and the manpower available. Every year, millions of graduates enter the job market without the specific skill sets demanded by the industry. The most pressing need of the hour is to develop a pool of qualified and technical empowered to bridge this gap between the demand and supply of skilled manpower.”
To prepare youth for employability, we are working on establishing a vocational training centre that will impart practical skills in fields like technology. This will help bridge the gap between formal education and job readiness as well as self-employed.
Rural Talent Search Examination Program -RTS:
IWF is planning conducting RTSE (Rural Talent Search Examination) and other competitive examinations specially from educationally, economically, socially and marginalise society in rural India
Career Counselling and Academic Guidance Program- CCAG:
IWF is committed to developing a network of district-level career guidance trainers. These trainers will be equipped to provide students with information on educational opportunities, career pathways, and skill development, while also nurturing moral values. This year, IWF plans to launch the program in the Mithilanchal region, Bihar
