Tree Plantation
Why Tree Plantation?
India urgently needs tree plantation, environmental conservation, and climate change action to combat escalating ecological challenges. Forest cover in India has dwindled, with a 2021 report showing a mere 24.62% of land area under forests, below the recommended 33%. Tree plantations can significantly improve air quality by absorbing pollutants and releasing oxygen.
Moreover, India is highly vulnerable to climate change impacts, experiencing extreme weather events such as floods, droughts, and heatwaves. In 2020 alone, 76% of India’s districts were hit by climate-related disasters. Immediate and sustained action in tree plantation and environmental conservation is essential to safeguard India’s future.
IWF is spearheading impactful tree plantation programs in Darbhanga and across most districts of Bihar. Dedicated to raising awareness of tree planting, habitat restoration, and community engagement, we are committed to nurturing a greener, healthier future through our large-scale reforestation efforts.
What We Do
Islah Welfare Foundation focuses on environmental protection through plantation, sapling distribution, and restoration of natural ecosystems to promote a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future—especially in vulnerable regions.
Mass Tree Plantation Drives
We organize large-scale tree plantation drives across rural and flood-prone areas, engaging local communities, schools, youth groups, and volunteers. These initiatives aim to increase green cover, reduce the impact of climate change, prevent soil erosion, and enhance biodiversity through sustained community participation.
Tree Distribution Programs
We facilitate the distribution of saplings to individuals, schools, community institutions, and self-help groups. By encouraging widespread participation in plantation activities, our programs ensure that every household and institution contributes actively to environmental conservation and long-term ecological balance.
Afforestation and Reforestation
We focus on restoring degraded lands and expanding forest cover through targeted afforestation and reforestation initiatives. By planting native and climate-resilient species and rehabilitating natural habitats, we aim to strengthen ecosystems, protect wildlife, and improve soil and water conservation.
Rural Greening Efforts
We implement plantation and greening projects in both urban and rural settings. These initiatives help improve air quality, reduce heat stress, create green public spaces, and enhance overall quality of life. Our efforts contribute to building healthier, climate-resilient communities.
